The Crime Commission, which spends a lot of time putting bad guys behind bars, is getting into a new line of work: Helping those same convicts when they get out of prison.

They've got a new initiative called the Second Chance Foundation that's going to do research on helping ex-cons, lobby the legislature for new laws and -- probably most important -- raise money for groups that already help inmates get jobs, education and housing. (Such as Catholic Charities' TurnAround Program.)

Bill Dunn, the chairman emeritus of JE Dunn, is one of the driving forces here. He helped convinced the Crime Commission to tackled this project. And the Dunn Family Foundation is providing $100K in seed money.

Dunn's involvement is really interesting because his company has built dozens of prisons -- and he thinks it'd be better if society helped former crooks become good citizens, so they won't reoffend and have to go back into the system.
